The award winning series Jazz on the Bay, created and hosted by jazz singer Melanie O'Reilly, is devoted to capturing the spirit of jazz in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, consisting of music and interviews of bay Area jazz performers, interspersed with their life stories, inspirations and personal anecdotes. Programs in the series feature Chick Corea, Dave Brubeck, Marian McPartland, Larry Coryell, Nancy Wilson, James Moody, Deedee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling, Dave Benoit, Mike Marshall, Bobby McFerrin, Maria Muldour, Frank Martin, Airto Moreira & Flora Purim, McCoy Tyner, Ron Carter, among others, including a special feature on Women of Jazz in the Bay Area. The series was originally broadcast on RTE Radio 1, Ireland's National Broadcasting station.
Melanie O'Reilly is recognized as one of Ireland's international jazz ambassadors. Currently based in California, she is an international jazz performer/singer, song writer and music educator. Over the past few years, Melanie has developed a successful career in radio broadcasting as creator and host of her show "Jazz on the Bay" which won a PPI/National Radio Award of Ireland.
